Yankee site testing is criticized By SUSAN SMALLER Rutland Herald (VT) October 28, 2017 BRATTLEBORO - The Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant site is two cleanup projects - a massive nuclear cleanup and demolition project and, afterward, a more traditional brownfields site project. And while the promise has always been that the Vernon site would be returned to a “green field,” after the radiological components are demolished and hauled away, Entergy Nuclear and Yankee’s potential new owner, NorthStar, are going back and forth with state regulators over how “clean” the site needs to be.
