Board of Public Works approves $72K in testing work at former industrial site

The Terre Haute Board of Public Works on Monday approved roughly $72,000 of work at the former Terre Haute Coke and Carbon site.

The board approved a contract not to exceed $72,307 with ATC Group Services for collection and analysis of soil samples on the site at 13th and Hulman streets.

The company will make 51 soil borings, with samples taken from zero to two feet deep; 2 to 4 feet deep; 4 to 6 feet deep; and 8 to 10 feet deep.

The samples will be analyzed for total lead and arsenic as well as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
