COLDWATER - Toward the end of summer 2017, work began on the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Solar Field Park — a 1.3 megawatt site — at the former Marmon Foundry site in Coldwater.

On Friday, key members of the project gathered for it’s official opening with a ribbon cutting.

After demolition of the foundry in 1990, the site remained untouched for 27 years.

“That property housed an economic engine for Coldwater for a number of years, 50s, 60s, 70s; it had a purpose and a lot of value for a long time and things changed,” Said Paul Beckhusen, general manager of Michigan South Central Power Agency. “That property then became what is has been for the last nearly 30 years.”
