City finally removes Hurricane Irma debris from West Tampa brownfield site Neighbors were frustrated that they were never notified the debris would be stored in their community for an extended amount of time. by Emerald Morrow WTSP TV-10 News (Tampa Bay Area, FL) June 15, 2018 TAMPA, Fla. -- City officials have agreed to two weekends of neighborhood sweeps and cleanups in West Tampa after large piles of debris from Hurricane Irma were left for weeks in a maintenance yard near the Hillsborough River. "The older people that stay next to that debris pile said they had problems with their allergies; there was fugitive dust," said West Tampa Community Redevelopment Area Chairman Joe Robinson. Neighbors were frustrated that they were never notified the debris would be stored in their community for an extended amount of time.
