Brownfield cleanup set at Special Metals area By Edward Harris Utica Observer-Dispatch (NY) Posted Jul 19, 2018 NEW HARTFORD - Environmental cleanup is set to begin soon at the brownfield site at the Special Metals Corp. facility on Middle Settlement Road, according to a release from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The NYSDEC said the remediation work at the 42-acre site at 4317 Middle Settlement Road will begin later this month and last approximately five months. The cleanup work will be handled by Special Metals Corporation with oversight provided by NYSDEC. The site is part of a larger property that’s owned by Special Metals.
