Government Oversight: Dothan’s EPA Brownfields grant projects moving forward by Jeremy Wise Dothan Eagle (AL) November 4, 2018 The name may sound odd, but the Environmental Protection Agency’s Brownfields Program may soon again produce some valuable results in the City of Dothan. The program essentially awards money to help cities and other interested community partners clean up properties that have economic development potential but may also have environmental concerns. Past Brownfields grants aided the development of the Cottonwood Corners retail complex and the Friend Bank branch located at the intersection of West Main Street and Ross Clark Circle. Last year the City of Dothan landed a $300,000 grant to continue addressing environmental issues in the hopes of spurring more economic development.
