Diamond Chrome Plating in Howell now using TCE-free degreaser By Sean Bradley Livingston Daily (MI) JANUARY 27, 2020 Diamond Chrome Plating in Howell has found an alternative to the degreasing fluid trichloroethylene that was leaking from the factory in a gas form into the nearby neighborhood. "The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy evaluated available information and confirmed the new degreasing fluid, and the expected emissions to the outdoor air from the degreaser are acceptable," the state said in a news release Monday. The company will use an aerospace cleaner fluid called Next 5408, said Jenifer Dixon, air quality liaison at the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, on Monday. The company, which provides metal finishing to aircraft, uses the substance to remove grease from metal parts.
