Take a look at Related Santa Clara, a huge live-work-play project that's set to rise in 2021 By Matthew Niksa Silicon Valley Business Journal (CA) December 21, 2020 Related Santa Clara, a potentially transformative project spanning 240 acres, was pushed back by the Covid-19 pandemic this year. But it's now on track to begin sometime next year. When it does, it will mark a significant milestone for a project that was conceived in 2012 and is currently Silicon Valley's largest-ever private development. What's more, the fact that Related Santa Clara is still moving forward is a testament to developer Related Companies' confidence in its viability amid an exodus of tech executives and companies out of the Bay Area and economic uncertainty due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Dustin Ballard, vice president of office leasing at Related Santa Clara, told the Business Journal in a recent interview that Silicon Valley mainly consists of one-off projects that have been mixed together over time. Combine that with an "extremely diverse area of people pulling from all different places across the world," and the result is a region that "really lacks just a sense of place and togetherness.
