New industrial building planned for former GM spring and bumper plant site in Livonia By David Veselenak Hometown Life (MI) January 5, 2021 More development is coming to the former spring and bumper plant on the west side of Livonia. An additional warehouse with no named tenants has been proposed for a parcel of vacant land at the corner of Eckles and Amrhein, sandwiched between the Amazon distribution center and Republic National Distributing Co., facilities. The building in the southwest corner of the city would occupy just under 19 acres of property and encompass about 370,000 square feet. It would be used for light manufacturing to warehousing and or distribution, said Mark Taormina, the city's planning and economic development director. The Livonia City Council took up a request last month from Ashley Capital for a brownfield plan on the site to assist with costs associated with the cleanup and rehabilitation.
