Evacuation of contaminated Milwaukee apartments leads to finger-pointing between city and state officials By Alison Dirr Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (WI) March 30, 2023 The abrupt evacuation of residents of a Milwaukee apartment building over chemical contamination dangers last weekend evolved into finger-pointing between city and state representatives late Thursday over who was told what and when. Despite meeting in January with the City of Milwaukee department responsible for issuing occupancy permits, state Department of Natural Resources staff did not learn until last week that residents had moved into the building, according to a department statement issued Thursday.
