Milwaukee proposal seeks to prevent another situation like Community Within The Corridor By Alison Dirr Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (WI) January 10, 2024 Nearly a year after residents of an industrial site-turned affordable housing development were evacuated over elevated levels of a cancer-causing vapor, a proposed city ordinance that tightens oversight of such properties. City department leaders said the new ordinance would codify changes they had made following the March evacuation of more than 150 residents from Community Within The Corridor East Block, 2748 N. 32nd St. Residents were ordered to leave their homes due to elevated levels of the carcinogen trichloroethylene, or TCE, at the building that was once part of the Briggs & Stratton complex.
