$3 million awarded to Cromwell Red Lion Hotel redevelopment project to clean up blight

CROMWELL — The state has awarded a $3 million brownfields grant to clean up the former Red Lion Hotel property as part of a $100 million plan to redevelop the land for a mixed-use housing and commercial project.

The 100 Berlin Road property was developed with the current structures in 1968, according to the grant application. It was expanded in 1982.

The hotel building will be demolished, and a large portion of the parking structure will also be knocked down, the document said.
