Gowanus residents concerned about odors from excavation project By Melissa Rose Cooper News 12 Brooklyn (NY) December 18, 2024 Plans are in motion to clean up the Gowanus Canal. But some residents are complaining the process is leaving behind a really bad smell. "I've lived here for 50 years and in 50 years, I've never smelled how horrific it was here on Nevins Street," said Linda LaViolette, a member of the advocacy group Voice of Gowanus.
