[This appears to be part of Ames Research Center's plans to redevelop
portions of the former Moffett Naval Air Station. While most communities
would "die for" a new Google campus, I expect that we (in Mountain View
and adjacent communities) will continue to ask hard questions about the
housing and transportation impacts of the Ames "research park." - LS]


Google expected to build campus at NASA Ames

Google Inc. is expected to announce plans today to build a 1
million-square-foot campus at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain
View, sources familiar with the plan said Tuesday. 

The Internet giant, which has been looking for expansion space during
the company's extraordinary growth spurt, plans to build offices,
housing for workers, roads and infrastructure on a vacant section of the
sprawling NASA facility in the heart of Silicon Valley. 

"There is some land at Ames Research Center that could offer logical
expansion space for Google," company spokeswoman Lynn Fox said Tuesday
without commenting directly on the building plans.
