Rights to Naval Station Ingleside: Officials tap adviser Commissioners OK $17.5K/month deal with consulting firm By Alison Beshur Corpus Christi Caller-Times (TX) October 12, 2005 To protect the port's reversionary rights to Naval Station Ingleside and get the best deal out of base closures, Port of Corpus Christi commissioners approved a yearlong, $17,500-a-month consultant agreement with The Rhoads Group. In 1987, the port deeded the property to the U.S. Department of Defense to build the naval station and the port has first reversionary rights should the federal agency no longer need the land for maritime purposes. "This process, as I've learned in the past 30 to 60 days, is going to be slow, difficult and complicated," said port executive director John LaRue. "Both the House and the Senate are considering language that would modify that reversion and we need to stay vigilant that those modifications stay in place." The Rhoads Group is a government relation firm headed by Barry Rhoads, a former deputy general counsel to the 1991 BRAC Commission. ...
