Arlington creates task force to deal with BRACJoe Coombs Washington Business Journal December 15, 2005 Arlington County has assembled the team that will help it confront the loss of thousands of jobs associated with the federal Base Realignment and Closure moves. Arlington's BRAC Transition Task Force includes four members of the county's economic development commission and four outside experts. The panel starts meeting in the coming weeks to find solutions for Arlington's pending loss of 17,000 jobs and 4 million square feet of leased office space. Gov. Mark Warner has already appointed BRAC task forces in several parts of the state -- including Arlington -- but the panelists are composed mostly of politicians. Arlington officials wanted their own panel with more private sector and business expertise to address BRAC's fallout. ...
