S.D. council to discuss Navy complex at hearingBy Dani Dodge SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE (CA) July 14, 2006 San Diego Councilman Kevin Faulconer is calling for a council hearing on the Navy Broadway Complex - even though it's likely the council will have little say on the high-profile downtown waterfront development. "I think the council should judge for ourselves whether we have a role," Faulconer said. "I think because this is so important we need to know what our options are. This is the front porch of the city, and we have one chance to get it right." Among the issues that Faulconer wants to explore are whether the council can help shape the project, what would happen if the government disposed of the property through a base closure process, and whether it could be built with less density if the Navy's building were relocated. ...
