Area cities go hunting for BRAC transfereesBy Martin Burkey DECATUR DAILY (AL) January 6, 2006 A large regional hunting party is leaving for Arlington, Va., next week, hoping to bag a share of the estimated 2,200 Army Missile Defense Agency workers expected to move to the area as part of the Pentagon's Base Realignment and Closure process. The agency will be sponsoring four identical briefings for its employees Tuesday and Wednesday at a Sheraton hotel about two blocks south of the agency headquarters. The Army is running a shuttle service and encouraging workers to attend one of the briefings. At least two Army contractors also requested to send employees planning to relocate. "We think four or five hundred people will attend one or more of the presentations," said Dave Hargrove, incoming chairman of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce. "We hope to give them peace of mind this is one of the best parts of the country to live in." ...
