Open fields vs. playing fields Council seeks to balance conservation and recreation on BNAS reuse planning Rachel Ganong Brunswick Times Record (ME) March 27, 2007BRUNSWICK - Town councilors Monday night suggested tacit approval of the Conservation Commission's request for 1,047 acres from Brunswick Naval Air Station, paving the way for acceptance of a proposal that will preserve a third of the base property when it closes in 2011. Councilors held Monday's workshop to review the proposal, one of several they'll receive from various town departments before making a final recommendation to the Brunswick Local Redevelopment Authority by May 14. The redevelopment authority must approve applications for land requested by town, state and nonprofit entities in order for a public benefit transfer of the land. ...
