Feuding continues over NS Ingleside County judges Simpson, Neal oppose plan By Mary Ann Cavazos Corpus Christi Caller Times (TX) July 31, 2007The feuding among local governments about who will oversee redevelopment of Naval Station Ingleside continued Monday, with a split vote by the San Patricio County Commissioners Court to approve the city of Ingleside's proposal. The 3-2 vote trumped County Judge Terry Simpson, who made clear last week that he was opposed to the plan. The vote also means that two county judges, Simpson and Nueces County's Loyd Neal, are in opposition but without the backing of their commissioners courts. Neal last week turned up the heat on the issue, sending a letter to area elected officials and the Port Commission saying he was withdrawing his support after having voted in favor. When he voted Wednesday in favor, Neal said, he was unaware of a July 9 meeting between San Patricio County Commissioner Jim Price, Nueces County Commissioner Oscar Ortiz, his brother U.S. Rep. Solomon P. Ortiz, D-Corpus Christi, his former chief of staff Florencio "Lencho" Rendon and Ingleside City Councilwoman Stella Herrmann to develop and prepare the plan. ...
