City ponders post-BRAC future By Clayton Hein Wichita Falls Times Record News (TX) November 12, 2007 An open discussion at the Multi-Purpose Events Center Monday evening gave the citizens of Wichita Falls a glimpse at their potential economic future. With the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission's recommended cutbacks at Sheppard Air Force Base, city leadership wanted to extend an invitation to citizens in a multi-step process, according to local Board of Commerce and Industry President Tim Chase. University economists say the local economy is growing annually by about 3 percent. But with the implementation of BRAC's policies, the economy will take about a 1.2 percent hit every year until 2010. ...
