Army finalizes BRAC plan By JOSHUA STEWART Annapolis Capital (MD) December 05, 2007 The thousands of jobs coming to Fort George G. Meade could result in a long-term economic boom as well as congested traffic around the Army post and uprooted forest land. But some of the negative effects can be controlled if the proper safeguards are in place, a study recently finalized by the Army shows. A "record of decision" for an Environmental Impact Statement is the Army's official analysis of the effects the new jobs will have on the natural environment, traffic, economy, transportation and other features both on and off the post. It also includes details about how adverse effects can be mitigated and serves as a guide for new construction at the west county military installation. ...
