Manassas Park development plan rejected

The plan to bring 6,200 jobs to Manassas Park through the Department of 
Defense's 2005 Base Realignment and Closure recommendation is dead.

The American Building Corporation was informed Thursday that its plan to 
dedicate 45 acres of a proposed multi-use 115 acre-development on the 
north side of Manassas Drive was not accepted.

According to an e-mail sent Thursday by Dave Foster with Army Public 
Affairs, the Army is notifying the firms whose proposals were found 
qualified according to criteria announced Oct. 4 in a Request for 
Expressions of Interest.

Initially qualifying firms will now be asked for additional information.

Once the Army is satisfied that the sites offer significant value and 
opportunity for achieving the BRAC objectives, the firms will be asked 
to submit detailed proposals that address cost, schedule and other factors.
