Subject: | [CPEO-IRF] Ohio National Guard at Ravenna Arsenal |
Guard may expand at old arsenal By BILL RODGERS Warren Tribune Chronicle (OH) January 24, 2008 NEWTON FALLS - The city is researching sending utilities out to the old Ravenna Army Ammunition Plant, which could see an expansion of its Ohio National Guard operations. "They're looking into putting more personnel through the facility. Rather than the weekends, they'd be a year-round operation," City Manager Jack Haney told the Tribune Chronicle Wednesday. Haney talked about a National Guard slide presentation he viewed at a meeting that announced the expansion plan for the historic arsenal, including a $26 million utility improvement project. ... Parts of the arsenal have known or suspected contamination, which need to be cleaned up before the rest of the property is leased to the National Guard for use as a training ground.
