A 3/21/96 SF Chronicle articles states that the EPA has accused National Environmental Testing Inc. of fraud and has suspended them. It goes on to say that "... data received from the lab is of unknown quality..." It will take EPA months to figure out how bad a problem this is. They say, "It could range from a major inconvenience to something much worse...In a worst case scenario, we would have to do new analyses." These folks performed the tests at Hunters Point, the presidio, Fort Ord, and Hamilton AFB. Seems like this is a very potential "fly-in-the-ointment" of cleanup, reuse, and conversion plans, at each of these bases, to put it mildly. Mike Meuser | |
