Subject: | VANDENBERG AFB RAB WIDENS SCOPE |
From: Lenny Siegel <lsiegel@igc.org> VANDENBERG RAB EXPANDS SCOPE At many locations, installations have resisted community efforts to expand the scope of Restoration Advisory Boards beyond cleanup. However, at Vandenberg Air Force Base, near Santa Barbara, California, the Air Force proposed renaming the group and expanding its purview. The Community Advisory Board will oversee other environmental activities, including compliance and ENVVEST, the pilot pollution prevention program. RAB members responded positively, suggesting the addition of new community members, and calling for subcommitees to deal with the various programs. The facility's official RAB minutes (May, 1996) reports: "The Air Force stresses the value of the existing RAB on the progress of the IRP and looks to this group for more good ideas coming from [the] new CAB for all environmental programs at Vandenberg AFB."
