PRIVATE INVESTMENT IN FORMER MILITARY BASES. NEW INTERNET RESOURCE FOR INVESTORS. Former military bases for sale in Germany are now on the World Wide Web, providing investors around the world with a new resource for finding land for commercial and housing developments. The Bonn International Center for Conversion (BICC), a non-profit organization sponsored by the North-Rhine Westphalian Government, released its `Marketing Homepage' for conversion of former military sites earlier this month. The goal of the project is to attract the attention of potential investors to industrial real estate and provide a contact person for their initial inquiries in the respective community. Finding investors in former military lands is a common problem in German communities, where more than 4000 sites have closed. The BICC homepage, ConverNet (http://bicc.uni-bonn.de), is a highly regarded resource for the exchange of information regarding aspects of conversion. The new Marketing Homepage is an extension of the ConverNet, which contains detailed information on the reuse and redevelopment of former military bases around the world.
