Subject: | ICELAND CLAIM |
ICELAND LEGAL CHALLENGE Owners of the Mountain Heidarfjall, in Iceland, have initiated a court case seeking compensation from the U.S. government for the failure to remove wastes, including hazardous wastes, from their property, which was formerly operated as a U.S. Army radar station. The plaintiffs are pursuing a legal action primarily against the U.S. and its Iceland Defense Force, but if that fails it seeks action against the Icelandic Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. In filing their case, they note that the U.S. has spent money cleaning up other military facilities in Iceland, notably an area at the Keflavik Airport. Lenny Siegel | |
