The day before EPA's cease-fire order took effect at the Massachusetts Military Reservation, the Army National Guard started a grass fire exactly in the manner of soldiers in retreat. The ability of controlled burns to "clean up" residual contamination is certainly part of the military's store of knowledge. Firing an excessive number of white phosphorus rounds at the end of a day of artillery shooting served the same purpose. Richard Hugus Otis Conversion Project | |
