I think the use of Depleted Uranium as artillery is criminal. While effective, it should be banned under the Geneva Convention for the same reasons chemical and biological weapons are not allowed. The long term impact of these radioactive and toxic materials harm civilians and the environment. As the environment is regional and global in nature, the legacy of DU ballistics will last long after the current police action.
