MILITARY TOXICS PROJECT JOB ANNOUNCEMENT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR The Military Toxics Project (MTP) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director. MTP is a national, non-profit environmental justice organization that: (1) is a powerful, diverse grassroots vehicle linking issue of military pollution to issues of race, class, disarmament and democracy; (2) is a major leader in the social justice movement in America; (3) has a stable and diversified funding base; (4) has an excellent staff that facilitates and organizes the efforts of three issue grassroots networks; and (5) is comprised of hundreds of affiliated groups nationwide that fundamentally challenge the degradation of human health, cultures and the environment by the U.S. Department of Defense. Responsibilities The Executive Director is responsible for: 1. Implementing the vision and goals of MTP and its allies organizations 2. Fundraising for MTP to ensure a stable, diversified funding base 3. Program and organizational development of MTP networks and program 4. Management of a staff of national organizers and community program support staff 5. Development of MTP Board and staff 6. Development and maintenance of financial and administrative systems Qualifications A successful candidate for this position will have the following qualifications: 1. Excellent management, fundraising, communication, and writing skills 2. Deep and demonstrated commitment to environmental, social and economic justice 3. Knowledge of Department of Defense operations and structures 4. Prior experience or proven ability to serve as an executive director of a non-profit organization 5. Ability to function with humility and good spirit and with sensitivity to a wide diversity of cultures and peoples 6.
