Subject: | [CPEO-MEF] DOD Environmental Cleanup Stakeholders Forum |
[The following letter was sent to CPEO by the Environmental Security Office. It is my understanding that it was mailed out to RAB members and other DOD stakeholders throughout the country this morning. I have been told that more detailed information will be forthcoming (note that the website referred to does not yet have content). CPEO will post that information as soon as it is available. --Aimee] October 5, 2000 Dear Friend, Over the last several years, we have made tremendous achievements in the Defense Environmental Restoration Program. We can always do better, and on November 14 to 16, 2000, we want to hear from you--on where we are--and your ideas on where we can go in the future. We want to drive our cleanup program to completion -- with remedies that have regulator concurrence and public acceptance. We want to find ways to make our program more transparent -- and reduce the transaction costs that seem to stifle innovation. For our meeting in November, we selected several broad topic areas -- but have also included an opportunity for you to discuss with us any other subject that you believe is important. The DoD Environmental Cleanup Stakeholders Forum is open to the public and will be at the Adams Mark Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri. The Forum will feature eaight sessions--seven target specific areas of our Cleanup Program, and the eighth provides for additional interests: ** Next Generation of Community Involvement ** Formerly Used Defense Site Improvements ** Range Cleanup ** Cleanup Privatization ** Risk Management and Communications ** Parterning with Regulatory Agencies ** Site Closure and Permanent Remedies ** Open Discussion Additional information for each session is on our website: www.denix.osd.mil/CL-Forum. If you cannot attend the Forum, you may provide your views through our DENIX website. After the Forum we will post the meeting summary on DENIX. We have reserved a block of rooms at the government per diem for $90/night for single occupancy and $110/night for double occupancy at the Adams Mark Hotel. This rate is available until the hotel registration deadline of October 20, 2000. Call (314) 241-7400 to make your reservation, and reference the DoD Environmental Cleanup Stakeholders Forum. There will be a $35 registration fee, which will include a reception on Tuesday evening. You may register on-line by visiting the Forum website on DENIX by November 1, 2000 Thank you in advance for your participation. We look forward to seeing you in St. Louis! Very truly yours, Sherri W. Goodman Deputy Under Secretary of Defense, Environmental Security ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You can find archived listserve messages on the CPEO website at http://www.cpeo.org/lists/index.html.
