Ban sought on drinking wells in RDX plume By Tracy Overstreet The Independent 01/26/01 http://www.theindependent.com/stories/012601/new_wells26.html Zoning regulations may change in parts of Grand Island and Hall County to prevent the digging of drinking water wells. The change is being proposed to ensure that people owning or buying land directly above groundwater contaminated with RDX -- a compound used in making explosives at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant -- will not expose themselves to it through drinking water. "We don't want anybody in the RDX plume to be drilling residential wells," said Tom Jamieson, plant manager.
