Martin Independent Journal (Marin County, California) April 4, 2001 (?) Charter school ordered to move By Jane Futcher The Novato Unified School District gave the Novato Charter School board an ultimatum last night: Be out of the Meadow Park school at Hamilton Field by June 30 and prepare to reopen at the controversial Exchange Triangle property or find an interim home. Despite growing parental concerns about toxic substances near the Hamilton's Exchange Triangle, the district school board declared it safe, based on every environmental study conducted at the site. School district officials said the district needs the Meadow Park site so that nearby Hamilton School can accommodate approximately 35 new students in the fall. The board's decision left many of the charter school parents stunned. "I'm very disturbed and upset," said parents and charter school board member Janine Pera after the meeting.
