Friday April 13 7:23 AM ET Mass Evacuation After French WW1 Bomb Stock Scare LILLE, France (Reuters) - Thousands of people living near a stockpile of World War One artillery shells and chemical weapons in northern France were ordered to leave their homes on Friday after experts said the bombs risked exploding. Police staked out a 1.8 mile exclusion zone around the open-air depot at Vimy, site of a ferocious Canadian assault on German trenches at Easter 1917, and told residents they would not be able to return for around 10 days.
