Europe French Villagers To Be Evacuated To Remove WWI Shells VOA News 3 Jun 2001 03:03 UTC 600 people will be evacuated from a village in northeast France after the discovery of 164 tons of unexploded World War I artillery shells. Construction workers found the German shells in the village of Chatelet-sur-Retourne. Residents will be forced to leave the village for up to nine days to allow authorities to remove the shells.
