Subject: | [CPEO-MEF] Horizontal Wells course |
(from Lou Fournier <starcompany@erols.com>) I am sending you this message for possible posting on the CPEO list-server. It should be of interest to anyone considering alternatives for subsurface remediation. Horizontal wells are a major new tool for subsurface remediation. They offer the opportunity to reduce the costs of soil and groundwater remediation by as much as 80% as compared with vertical wells and trenches. They are ideal for use at large sites such as military sites and have the added advantage that they can be installed under paved areas such as run-ways, large buildings, and into other-wise difficult-to-access areas where there may be dangers from unexploded ordinances and/or radiation. The Continuing Education Program of the University of Wisconsin Department of Engineering Professional Development Department is presenting a two-day "Horizontal Well Remediation Course" on October 1-2, 2001 in Madison, Wisconsin. To register on-line or obtain course information, go to: http://epdweb.engr.wisc.edu/brochures/E129.pdf The course will cover well drilling and development, case histories, engineering design requirements, remediation applications, and cost comparison with alternative remediation methods. Attendees will receive 1.4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Lou Louis B.
