PROJECT DIRECTOR/FELLOW POSITION AVAILABLE The Institute for Science & Interdisciplinary Studies (ISIS) is a non-profit organization uniting scientists, citizens and social studiers of science to improve how science operates in the world. ISIS's Military Waste Cleanup Project works with citizens, citizen-scientists, regulators and military officials to help communities affected by military pollution achieve effective environmental cleanups. The project is currently building the National Technical Experts Network (NTEN), a collaborative project connecting scientists and knowledgeable citizens working in affected communities. The Project Director/Fellow will build this network and direct activities for the project as a whole. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a national network of relationships with the citizens, citizen organizations, non-profit organizations, and professors/scientists at educational institutions who will join and execute the NTEN project. Other responsibilities include organizing and coordinating public meetings and national-level workshops, ensuring continued project funding, executing grant administration tasks, and supervising project staff/interns. The ideal candidate is a dynamic individual with a Masters degree (or Doctorate) or equivalent experience in social studies of science or the sciences, excellent communication and computer skills, and experience working in the environmental field and/or in nonprofit organizations. Meeting and conference planning experience, and working understanding of chemistry, environmental science, hydrology and public health are desirable. Interest in the sciences is essential as is the desire to make a contribution to the intellectual climate of the institute. ISIS offers a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience. This is a grant-funded position; extension depends on continuation of funds.
