Subject: [CPEO-MEF] Job Opening at CPEO
 
We at CPEO are seeking a Brownfields Project Manager to head up and coordinate our Brownfields program.  If anyone you know may be interested in this position, please pass this announcement along.

Summary of Position:

The Brownfields Project Manager will be in charge of CPEO's Brownfields program. This is a full-time position is available immediately.  The position is located in Washington, DC and the Project Manager will report to both the Associate Director Aimée Houghton and Executive Director Lenny Siegel.  This project will be focusing on two important community concerns about the risk management of brownfields: the building or operation of schools on brownfields and the impact, upon communities, of nominally successful brownfields redevelopment.
 
The Project Manager will be asked to work independently on the following tasks as they relate to a comprehensive workplan:

·       Write articles for electronic and newsletter publication
·       Facilitate discussion of CPEO's Brownfields Internet Forum
·       Schedule and coordinate small and large events
·       Conduct research and literature searches for project
·       Generate and disseminate technical and policy information to community based organizations
·       Assist in the fundraising and writing of grant proposals
·       Represent and speak on behalf of CPEO at workshops, conferences, and public forums
·       Some out of state travel is required.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

·       Understanding of and experience with environmental justice, advocacy, community organizing, and coalition building
·       Excellent people skills and ability to interact with very diverse constituencies
·       Familiarity with the federal legislative process and applicable federal laws
·       Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, and organize information
·       Project management experience including work plan and budget management
·       Experience with writing and managing grant proposals for government and foundation funding
·       Familiarity with the US Environmental Protection Agency organizational structure
·       Excellent speaking and writing skills
·       Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Access, and Adobe Acrobat
