To clarify - Toxicant is any compound made by humans, or manipulated by humans so that they are in concentrations or other forms - the effect of which is that it makes them more accessible or bioavailable to living organisms. Lead, for example, is naturally occuring, and thus a toxin, in ore, but is a toxicant in paint or leaded gasoline.
