California Hundreds question toxic risk EPA meeting airs community fears By Gabe Friedman Hundreds of concerned, fearful and angry Mountain View residents turned out at a Wednesday meeting to question federal officials on the dangers of citywide toxic gas exposure. The gathering at the Mountain View Community Center came in the wake of a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announcement that the toxin trichloroethene (TCE) -- leaked into Mountain View's ground water by microchip factories -- is 60 to 70 times more toxic than thought, and is present in the city's air.
