NASA roasts Navy By Julie O'Shea Mountain View (CA) Voice March 21, 2003 The top NASA/Ames environmental official said last week she'd like to see the Navy hurry and clean up polluted ground water at a Moffett Field military housing site that is flowing onto the space agency's property and causing a multi-million-dollar mess. At the very least, said Sandy Olliges, the NASA/Ames environmental coordinator, the Navy should put up some sort of barrier to stop the toxins from leaking onto NASA's land. But this is only one of a number of complaints stacked against the Navy about the Orion Park site, where toxic ground water sits beneath the homes of dozens of military families.
