The developer outlined plans for the 429-acre project, which would include $500,000 to $600,000 homes on half-acre lots and a neighborhood creekside horse trail. The presentation was the start of a long campaign to assure the public that the land at Wyle will be safe before building begins. "There is soil and groundwater contamination," said David Hudson, St. Clair spokesman. Wyle is responsible for cleaning the land before building can begin, he said. Wyle Laboratories Inc., which built its Norco facility in 1957, is authorized to test warheads and missiles, and to handle hazardous materials and low-level radioactive substances. St. Clair bought the property in November, and Wyle could move out within the next 14 months.
