Ohio THE TOLEDO BLADE Port takes control of Teledyne property June 3, 2003 The 28-acre Teledyne property on Laskey Road was transferred yesterday from the federal government to the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, part of a continuing federal withdrawal of defense-plant ownership. The transfer completes a process that started in 2001 when the port authority agreed to acquire the site. The transaction was delayed until now while responsibility for cleaning up "limited contamination" at the site was established, a port authority statement said. The Navy will remain solely responsible for such cleanup, the agency said. The facility, which includes a 373,278-square-foot factory, dates to 1942. Its products ranged from aircraft engines to B-47 bomber landing-gear sub-assemblies and, most recently, small turbine engines for jet trainers, target drones, and missiles.
