This article gives a little more information on the processes the team plans to use. --Susan Gawarecki CHEMICAL WEAPONS CONTRACT GOES TO BECHTEL PARSONS TEAM=20 Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass, a contracting team led by Bechtel National Inc. (San Francisco, CA) and Parsons Infrastructure and Technology Group (Pasadena, CA), has won a contract to destroy chemical weapons at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Kentucky. The project, which is expected to cost about $2 billion over the next ten years, will involve the use of neutralization and supercritical water oxidation to destroy the depot=92s stockpile of blister agents and nerve agents. Joining Bechtel and Parsons on the contracting team are Battelle Memorial Institute, General Physics, General Atomics, and Washington Demilitarization Co., a unit of Washington Group International.
