Kentucky WAVE 3.COM Clark County Has Big Plans For Old Army Ammo Dump By Shannon Davidson July 15, 2003 (CLARK COUNTY, Ind., July 15th, 2003, 12:30 p.m.) -- In real estate, it's all about location, location, location. Now there's one group in southern Indiana that has possession of a prime piece of property. WAVE 3's Shannon Davidson reports on what's in store for the future. The army is turning over thousands of acres to a group who will turn part of Clark County into an industrial Mecca. Deserted guard houses, barbed-wire fences, and rusty chains that no longer keep people in or out are all that's left in this southern Indiana wide open space. In the past, the U.S. Army has used the area in Clark County for the Indiana Army Ammunition plant. The plant produced gun powder for three wars: World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars. But now the Army is signing a lease for the 6,000-acre tract of land ...to the INAAP Reuse Authority. Marc Elliott recently talked about INAAP's plans for the land. "We're going to convert it into a business park," he said, "and there will be industrial and commercial activities located in the park."
