Environmental cleanup updates at tomorrow's Devens RAB meeting
Wednesday, August 13, 2003 - 8:00:40 AM EST

DEVENS -- Area residents are invited to attend the Devens Restoration
Advisory Board meeting Thursday, Aug. 14, for updates on Devens
environmental cleanup and restoration work. The projects are being
carried out under the supervision of the BRAC Environmental Office in
conjunction with EPA and MassDEP.

The meeting will take place at the Devens Commerce Center, 43 Buena
Vista St., starting at 7 p.m.

Projects to be reported on include Shepley's Hill Landfill, where means
are being sought to prevent the continued migration of contaminated
groundwater north from the landfill.

An update will be provided on a private company's work to remediate a
plume of cleaning fluid (tetrachloroethylene or PCE) moving in
groundwater under the former Army airfield from a source next to Route
2A, extending under the airfield area to the Nashua River.
