California SIERRA VISTA HERALD School issues impact BRAC: Team Cochise also concerned By Bill Hess August 14, 2003 SIERRA VISTA -- Team Cochise members said Wednesday that they have concerns about the future of Sierra Vista public schools and the impact it will have on the next round of military base closures. The group members also have rising concerns about a potential leukemia cluster in the area, which could have a negative impact on decision-makers, said members of the team. Team Cochise is a group that is trying to find solutions to many issues to ensure that there are excellent education, health, housing and employment opportunities for soldiers and their families, as well as others who live in the region. The team met on Wednesday to discuss some issues, with the major ones being education and the alleged leukemia cluster in the area. "Education is a more significant problem than water," said Ted Fichtl, the team's coordinator.
