Army outlines plan to add monitoring [sic] wells

New high capacity extraction wells will be installed this fall at the
Badger Army Ammunition Plant to with the hopes of capturing of contaminants
in groundwater.

The announcement was made Monday at a meeting of the Badger Restoration
Advisory Board.

The wells, capable of sucking 600 to 700-gallons of water-per-minute, will
be placed within the known plume of contaminated groundwater.

"We will be attacking within the plume," said Andrew Ellison, a
hydro-geologist from the Colorado company Shaw Environmental &
infrastructure, Inc. "Instead of waiting for the plume to come to the
boundary wells, we are going to the plume."
