The testing order around the contaminated Simi Hills rocket lab would be a first for the surrounding community, where three housing projects are planned and demand is increasing for development. The Boeing Co., which owns the field laboratory, is against the proposed requirement, charging it unfairly would stigmatize the surrounding property as presumably contaminated. Supporters of required testing say it is the only way for future home buyers to know if they are moving onto tainted property.
